ladera campout

At the end of July, Jake took the twins and Meredith to our town’s family campout while Eleanor and I had a girls’ night at home! Jake was very brave to camp overnight in a tent with these three hooligans by himself, but his backup plan was that they were just five minutes from home if things became too crazy. Fortunately, they did not have to launch Plan B and had an awesome time “glamping.”

Everyone arrived at the campout in the afternoon to set up tents and check out the kids’ activities. This was definitely the world’s most entertaining campout with painting, a tidepool, bounce houses, games, crafts, and outdoor movie, catered In N Out for dinner and catered Corner Bakery for breakfast! Being a board member, Jake even had valet parking… I don’t even understand how they can legitimately call this camping. They literally didn’t have to do anything but show up with their tent and sleeping bags!

I texted everyone goodnight at 9:30 p.m. and Jake informed me that no one was asleep yet, mostly due to Meredith constantly wrestling and rolling over everyone. The twins were in hysterics, screaming, “Meredith STOP! Go to sleep!” When she finally conked out mid-roll, the twins and Jake were finally able to get some sleep, despite the noise from all the other kids in close proximity crying and whining for their little siblings to go to sleep already! Jake definitely has nerves of steel, that much is sure.
