La Jolla Spring Break Days 4 & 5

During the rest of our La Jolla trip, we soaked up the sun and played endlessly at the beach.

Ready to venture out in the morning.

Looking for our squirrel friends.

A perfect foggy morning walk. We loved being walking distance to all the prettiest sights in La Jolla.

On the hunt for more shells to take home.

April is National Poetry Month and we had been working on memorizing some poems throughout the month. We thought it was fun to have a contest and see who could remember the poems at random times on our vacation.

“A Word” by Emily Dickinson:

Meredith gets so upset when she thinks it’s her turn to recite!

“I’m Nobody! Who are you?” by Emily Dickinson

Tally ho!

Meredith was fascinated with all the bright green moss.

Selfies with each of my favorites.

On the way out of La Jolla, we checked out the Birch Aquarium. It was the perfect size for little kids and the girls loved the tide pools outside and the cool seahorses, jellyfish, sharks and colorful fish inside.

I didn’t take many pictures, but the aquarium had a huge playground overlooking the ocean. A see-saw, merry go round, sciency games, the works.

This aquarium had the best views!

We had such a lovely girls’ trip and were excited to see Eleanor and Jake when we returned. That weekend, the girls put together a birthday breakfast extraordinaire, complete with a menu.

The treasure map led to my cards and presents.

And they wondered why I needed help deciphering this…

Always interesting to see what they have to say!

Lots of love,
