Bunny Breakfast

Our Moms of Multiples Club throws an annual private Bunny Breakfast at South Coast Plaza and everyone was excited to meet the Easter Bunny! It’s always adorable to see so many twins and triplets dressed up in coordinating outfits, and now that I’m the one with “older” twins, I can actually sit down and enjoy the catered breakfast while trying to help the moms with twin babies as much as possible! I used to look at those moms with the older twins with envy and would always bombard them with questions asking for advice, but now I’m always a little taken aback now that I’m that mom and people with little twins come to me with questions! Time flies.

2014:

2015:

2016: My parents took the twins while we stayed home with baby Meredith. Samantha was a little distrustful of robot bunny.

2017: Meredith did not want anything to do with the creepy animatronic bunny!

2018: This year, the girls interacted with the scary robot bunny, answering his questions and even giving him a hug.

The Bunny Breakfast happened to fall on the day before St. Patrick’s and the twins had a leprechaun celebration at preschool right after breakfast, so we opted for green outfits.

Free carousel rides are basically the main reason we’ve come every year.

So nice that the girls are old enough to sit down and be content with craft projects all by themselves. Even though we only had to watch Meredith, she still somehow ended up with marker all down her legs.

We hereby declare Friday nights as the official pizza by the pool nights for the rest of the summer! A bunch of our friends got together at the pool for the kick-off to summer, complete with a gaggle of splashing kids and plenty of pizza (except we ordered Luna Grill because the girls had been to an event at Pretend City earlier that week and had eaten pizza there). “Chicken-kabobs-and-salmon-with-rice by the pool night” just doesn’t have the same ring to it, although the girls weren’t complaining.

The best part about Friday night pizza and pool nights is getting the girls showered off there, getting them into their pajamas and watching them collapse into bed and fall asleep in record time.

This photo is a typical evening for us in a nutshell. Cranky girls, smiley baby!

Hard to see, but I’m guessing this is Camdyn, Addison, Jadyn, Samantha and Amelia being goofy on the steps. Chelsea, London, Nate, Kennedy, Quincy, and Olivia were off lounging on the chairs and eating pizza. Score one for childhood memories being made.

Trying to practice what we had learned in swimming lessons that day, except all the girls wanted to do was cowabunga into the pool.

Meredith begged for her own cabana, but didn’t count on being blinded by the sun.

At the social, they had the cutest ice cream-themed scavenger hunt where the kids were given a cone and a list of “toppings” to look for around the park.

Yet another picnic dinner (we really do eat outside quite a bit!) with Cousin Noah from when we got together a few weeks ago. Picnic dinners and leaving the mess at the park are some of our favorite ways to not go crazy on a Monday night .

2nd Annual Breakfast with Santa at South Coast Plaza

Leading up to the South Coast Breakfast with Santa with the SMOMC (local twins club), Samantha and Amelia were excited to meet Santa for the first time this season and rehearsed what they were going to tell him constantly. Even though they always act excited at home, they tend to get a little stage fright when the big moment arrives.

The most stoic Christmas photo faces ever! Samantha wouldn’t go near Santa, while Amelia tolerated sitting on him for a few seconds. Samantha: SHOOT ME NOW.

Amelia has made vast improvements in her attitude toward Santa since last year, when she sat as far away as possible from Santa on Daddy’s lap and screamed her lungs out.

I never understand why Santa gives the kids the candy cane after the photo instead of before– as a sign of good will. The girls were suddenly very friendly with Santa after they received their treat and shyly whispered what they wanted for Christmas. Amelia said she wanted “cookies” and Samantha told Santa she wanted “pie.” I guess Christmas will be easy this year!

Tummies filled with candy canes, pastries, orange juice, eggs and bacon, the girls were ready to play. We only had to ride the carousel 74 times this year, with me joining for exactly one ride before pleading nausea and having Jake step in. While they whirled around on the carousel, I helped some of my twin mom friends with their kids in line to meet Santa. My friend, Lara’s, twins had the absolute best photo, with both 2 year old Michael and Ellie screaming until their faces were bright red and squirming off Santa.

As always, the best part about any of the twin events was talking to the other moms (especially the one with younger twins) and remembering back to that first year. There were some 3 month old boy twins dressed as elves that were just way too adorable. Seeing them snuggled in their double snap ‘n’ go brought back so many memories!

All the reindeer pretty much looked the same, but Samantha always insisted on picking out a different one each time.

The girls didn’t care for any window shopping this year, unlike last:

Samantha and Amelia asked if they could climb into the sleigh together all by themselves and ride without us. Done.

It melts my heart watching them giggle and hold hands/talk to each other the whole time. It’s those moments that all the hard work of taking care of twins totally pays off. They are definitely best friends!
