The one month of the year I hate

September. Ugh. It’s the worst month of the year where we live in California. While everyone else around the country is starting to haul out the cute fall boots, pumpkin cookies and apple spice cider, here, we’re lathering on the sunscreen and compulsively checking our weather apps, praying for cooler weather.
This past week reminded me why we should have traveled to Utah this month instead of in August; you know it’s going to be hot when you’re jogging at 5:30 a.m. and it’s already 80 degrees.  I’m so ready for fall!
S and A reminded me that it’s beautiful the other eleven months of the year, so we can’t complain too much about scorching September.
The girls haven’t seemed to mind the long summer.

I’m sure every day seems exactly the same to them. Seasons? What seasons?

It’s nice that we can visit family in Utah and Idaho so that the girls can experience things we don’t get here– raking leaves, watching the colors change, building snowmen…
…And then we get to come home and don’t have to deal with scraping ice off our windshields every morning in the winter. A win-win.

Endless summer.

Thanks, Aunt Sarah, for taking these pictures a while ago!
Fall– please come soon!
Lots of love,
