Guns and Butterflies

Shout out to Great Grandpa Leonard, Grandma Jolene, Grandpa Rich and Grandma Celeste! Samantha and Amelia wish you a very Happy Grandparents’ Day!
In other news, I’m pretty sure no wife would be excited to hear her husband say the words, “Guess what the girls did this morning? They played with a 50 caliber machine gun!”
For Samantha and Amelia’s Daddy Daughter Date this weekend, Jake took them to hang out with the Marines at our city’s September 11th Remembrance event.  Apparently, it was the girls’ idea, not Jake’s. Is it scary how natural they look behind this thing?
Can we drive the Humvee, Daddy?
THIS IS SO MUCH COOLER THAN OUR LAME CAR.

Best date ever, Daddy!

Mommy’s turn for a date! I took the girls to their gymnastics class on Saturday morning and later we stopped by their friend, Parker’s, house. Samantha and Amelia had given Parker a “send away for your own butterfly larvae” kit for his birthday and the butterflies had emerged from their cocoons that morning.  The girls were fascinated! So fascinated, in fact, that Samantha kept compulsively reaching her chubby hand into the butterfly tent. Fortunately, no butterflies were harmed during our playdate.
Parker even helped the girls complete a little butterfly craft for them to take home. Such a good friend!
Later, we picked some tomatoes from our garden and found this little critter eating one of our unripe tomatoes (NOT the one Samantha is eating in this photo).

EW IT’S GETTING CLOSER!

Amelia thought Mr. Caterpillar was her special friend.

Isn’t he cute? SQUISH.

A quick and (hopefully) painless death for our crop-eating little friend!

Lots of love,

Signature
