Utah Vacation Update

For those of you back home who are wondering, we are alive! I haven’t posted anything in a while because we’ve been on vacation in Utah and Idaho for the past week. Time for a vacation update.

We left California at the girls’ bedtime, 7:30 p.m. and lots of sugar, two red bulls, and one audiobook later, we arrived in Utah at 6 a.m. local time, driving straight through. Jake and I split the drive, and although driving through the night was pretty brutal toward the end, it was well worth it since the girls stayed asleep the entire time.

As a bonus, when we transferred the twins from the car to my parents’ house, they stayed asleep and let us sleep in for another couple hours. Thanks, girls!

As soon as the twins woke up, they bolted out of bed and ran around the house, exploring all the new toys. The last time they were here, they were only 9 months old and weren’t walking yet!

How adorable is this mini rocking chair my mom bought and painted/recovered with some cute fabric? The girls adore it.

The first day we were in Utah, we hung out with our family friends, the Millers from El Paso, who were enjoying their last day of vacation. For as long as I can remember, it’s been a yearly tradition for them to come every summer to stay at my parents’ house. We were happy to catch them before they left so they could meet Samantha and Amelia.

The Miller clan–and THIS is with three of their boys missing who didn’t come on the trip. Christian, Colton and Clayton are triplets–I can’t even imagine! Remembering back to their infant days when we’d feed them in three separate high chairs makes me feel bad for ever complaining about how much work the twins are!

Summer isn’t complete without a game of badminton in the backyard.

The twins loved hanging out with their new friends, Sasha and Natasha, who were very helpful at entertaining them.  Sasha and Natasha were adopted from Russia and are cute and spunky as can be.

Finally, the twins are old enough to enjoy the sand pit out back.

The drinking fountain has been a huge hit as well.

Summertime lounging.

Before the Millers left, we hit up the pool and waterpark. I can’t count how many times the twins rode down the big kid waterslide with us, giggling the whole way down. Thrill junkies!
We had a fun couple days in Utah before heading off to Twin Falls and Sun Valley, Idaho to visit Jake’s family. More on that later!
Lots of love,
