Fun with Friends

The other day, I asked Samantha and Amelia if they’d like to check out the zoo with me. After consulting Amelia, Samantha replied, “Let us check our social calendars and we’ll get back to you.”
Yes, my one-and-a-half-year-olds have more of a social life than I do. It’s a good thing I get along with their friends and friends’ parents!
Samantha and Amelia went to their friend, Parker’s, third birthday party and spent nearly the entire time hanging out with this dog. Apparently he was in a cage because he’s a pedigreed show dog and the owners didn’t want his fur “getting damaged by kids.” Pretty sure Samantha and Amelia ruined this dog’s chances of ever winning the Westminster Dog Show.
The splash pad/park was the perfect place for a birthday party. I’m thinking that’s where we’ll have the girls’ bday bash when they turn two.

Amelia loves collecting water and then pouring it into buckets. Samantha doesn’t have the patience.

Amelia plays a happy birthday song for Parker.

Whoa! Sand pours out!

How does this pinwheel thing work again?

The only time I’ve ever seen the girls actually play in the sand is when other kids are around. If it’s just me, they won’t have anything to do with it.

Loving this cake.

Catching up with our special pal, Marisa.

It’s amazing that Marisa stuck around to go swimming with us– the girls were super cranky that morning (may have something to do with going from two naps to one the past few weeks). Nevertheless, she had a smile on her face the whole time and was a trooper through the whining!

Playing with shaving cream at Kennedy’s house.

The best part about making this mess was that it wasn’t at my house!

A visit from Great Grandpa who witnessed the girls’ love of leaping into our arms from the edge of the pool.
We’ve come a long way since last August. THOSE CHEEKS.

Playing at the water park with Maliyah.

Last August, the girls screamed if we’d so much as dip their toes in the water. 2013:

2014:
We never did make it to the zoo. The girls ended up thanking me for the offer, but declining since they had too many social engagements to attend. They told me I’d have to get with “their people” to reschedule.
Lots of love,
