The last weekend before the big ONE

This weekend, the smell of barbecues and the sound of birds chirping filled the air–I think we must have skipped over spring entirely, because it was in the 80s here. The summery weather couldn’t have been more welcome…except for having to turn on the air conditioning a few times. The girls spent their final weekend of babyhood living it up under the summer sun as their dad and I tried to soak up every last minute of it.
A snack at the park on Friday.

The girls were a big help unloading the dishwasher (NOT).

Jake went into work over the weekend, but was able to sneak back for a few hours so that I could get some projects done for the girls’ first birthday party. I was driving back from the craft store, when I turned the corner and saw these little cuties on their walk. My first thought was, “OH CUTE! WHO ARE THOSE ADORABLE TWINS?” A split second later, I realized they were mine and that was a pretty awesome moment!

Lounging by the pool.

This should have happened a long time ago, as the girls are well above the weight limit for front facing, but we wanted to wait as close to a year as possible, as per recommendations. Samantha and Amelia’s feet have been completely squished up against the back seat for the past few weeks, so we decided it was finally time to flip them around. It was a revelation! They LOVED facing forward and it was so much easier to check on them from the driver or passenger seat. The best part is… no more riding in the back seat with them for me!

Enjoying some noodles.

This pretty much sums it up.

Today, we will be enjoying the girls’ last day as 11 month olds before venturing into the world of ONE tomorrow! I couldn’t be more excited/terrified/happy/sad/nostalgic!
Lots of love,
