10 Minutes

10 minutes. To myself. That’s all I need to re-charge after a day of feeding, diapering, carrying,  changing, rocking, playing, and soothing times two! As soon as Jake got home, I handed off Samantha and Amelia and bolted out the door, spit-up on my shirt and all, for a walk on the trail behind our house.

Bliss! For those 10 minutes, I could do whatever I wanted– sans crying! I strolled happily along as I watched Bandit chase bunnies and jammed to the Taylor Swift Pandora station (don’t judge)! I felt like a human being again!

When I got back to the house, my system felt re-booted and I was ready for the graveyard shift. This is what I found:

Now THAT’S talent. It really is quite a feat to secure one baby in the Baby Bjorn while juggling the other and putting her in the Ergo Baby. I’ve only just mastered putting one baby in the Bjorn and then picking up the other and carrying her in my arm, and even then, I have constant anxiety that one will wriggle at the wrong time and I’ll drop her. I was thus quite impressed!  Two crying babies who both want to be held at the same time? No problem! Father of the Year award-worthy in my book.

Jake has always been the master when it comes to putting the twins in baby carriers.

Jake using the Moby wrap when the girls were only a few weeks old.

On a side note, I love the Moby, and the girls seem to like it too, but I can never figure out how to use it! Too much fabric and wrapping and tying. The LAST thing I need when I’m juggling two babies is something complicated. I am therefore happy to relinquish the twin baby wrapping/double carrier duties to Jake.

The girls are happy about it too.

Lots of love,
